Shoulder Impingement
Pinching of the rotator cuff.
Impingement is a dynamic problem: the shoulder blade moves poorly, the roof of the shoulder compresses and irritates the rotator cuff tendons, and it inflames the bursa. We restore movement, reduce inflammation, and do not always need surgery. The shoulder can generate severe pain.
Symptoms
- Pain reaching overhead
- Pain reaching behind back
- Arc of pain
- Shoulder girdle weakness
Conservative treatment
- Scapular stabilization
- Posture correction
- Orthobiologic treatment
- Taping
When is surgery needed?
Subacromial Decompression (shaving the bone) if spurs cause tearing.
