Urgent care for extensor mechanism failure.

Complete rupture of the tendons that straighten the knee is a surgical necessity. However, early functional rehab is critical to prevent stiffness. We use strong sutures and immediate motion protocols.

Symptoms

Inability to lift leg
Indentation above/below kneecap
Sudden giving way
Bruising

Conservative treatment

Only for partial tears (brace)
Orthobiologic treatment for tendinopathy

When is surgery needed?

Surgical repair (often with anchors) is always required for complete ruptures.
