ACL Injuries (Anterior Cruciate Ligament)
Not every ACL tear requires reconstruction. We explore healing protocols first.
The ACL is crucial for knee stability. Traditional medicine rushes to surgery, but recent studies show many tears can heal with bracing and biologics. We evaluate if your knee is stable enough to avoid the long recovery of reconstruction. But be careful: it is worth getting an MRI as soon as possible after the injury, because some ACL injuries can be repaired or sutured surgically when treated early.
Symptoms
- Loud 'pop' sensation
- Rapid swelling
- Instability/giving way
- Loss of range of motion
Conservative treatment
- Orthobiologic treatment
- Proprioceptive rehab
- Muscle strengthening
When is surgery needed?
Arthroscopic ACL reconstruction for professional athletes or in cases of persistent instability despite intensive physiotherapy, or additional knee injuries requiring surgical treatment.
