Hip Impingement (FAI)
Hip (groin) pain in young adults and athletes.
Femoroacetabular Impingement occurs when the hip bones don't fit perfectly, pinching the labrum. It is NOT a death sentence for the hip. Correcting pelvic tilt and glute strength often eliminates symptoms.
Symptoms
- Groin pain sitting
- Stiffness
- Clicking
- Pain with deep squats
- In women, groin pain during gynecological examination or intercourse
- Groin pain when getting into or out of a car
Conservative treatment
- Core/Glute strengthening
- Pelvic tilt correction
- Orthobiologic treatment
When is surgery needed?
For severe symptoms, locking, limited range of motion, and no hip arthritis: Hip Arthroscopy.
